You may know someone who has a Medicare CalMediconnect plan (it’s shown on the member ID card).
Or you may have these Dual Look-Alike plans such as Scan Plus, Anthem Coordination Plus, Blue Shield Coordinated Choice, UHC Assure, Humana Value Plus. If yes, please read below.
On January 1, 2023, the Cal MediConnect plan will change into a matching Medicare and Medi-Cal plan provided by the same company that provides your Cal MediConnect. The same thing applies to the dual look-alike plan. Your plan will be transitioned automatically into a Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan (D-SNP) or regular Medicare plan provided by the same company that provides your current plan.
This big change will impact many people this year. Companies and agents have started to make a move. You may have or will get marketing letters from them regarding this change. If you do get a letter to notify you about your plan changes, please don’t be confused but call me. I can provide a no-cost personal consultation for you and can research to see which plan would be a good option for your situation.
Your insurance company will start notifying its members about this change in September or October 2022. And most likely, you don’t have to do anything. If you have questions about your coverage though, I encourage you to contact me at 858-432-2322.
